Almost capsize

Post by Derek James »

Well it has been windy recently and I thought I was in for a swim when I pitch poled  Inexplicably I managed to recover from this position without capsizing and dry  A case of hanging onto the rear beam and not letting go . Hope you are all well and enjoying windy weekends

Blimey. Being a gentleman of good character I believe you, but that really must be the save of the century from that angle..

Reminds me a bit of the George Carter picture from GWSC one open day when George and I were the only two boats allowed out one year (apart from RIB's) - George managed a similar situation and remained dry..

Mark,
I feel the same about my recovery , apparently this picture featured on face book for a couple of days . The good news it that the Sprint 15 team at Draycote often entertain the rest of the club who sensibly stay in the bar when its blowing , whilst we perform for their entertainment  . I got a few corr blimeys when I came off the water and was pleased to have recovered in front of an amazed crowd . Unfortunately my fellow competitors ( Mention no names Jan ...) were not quite so agile and ended up entertaining the crowds with their rolly polly capsize technique  Wind looks great again this week end so planning to blow away a few cob webs . Hope the rest of you are enjoying this windy season !
Cheers
