1517 was my first 15 which is still at Carsington, owned by a friend and was originally called 'Slam Dunk' and took to the waters in her first season at Instow in the Sport Nats. in the hands of Bob Carter. There is a photo of her in the NYDC clubhouse. Bob will, no doubt, be able to provide much more on her early years

Yes I was the second owner of 1517. I bought it from Stokes Bay when it was about 18 months old and called it Slam Dunk 2 (Slam Dunk (1) was 1329). We had it for a few years. I never felt quite as quick in it as my previous boats, but then I passed it on to George (Carter) when I bought 1808 - but it was the first boat that George became National Champion in, so my theory about my poor performance being the boat was rubbish. On reflection, I had it at a time when I was transitioning from sailing 2 up with a jib to sailing Una-rig and it took me several years to make the adjustment. I sold it to someone at Rutland when I bought 1818.
