Bob, An idea came to me as I was on Grafham today!!

How about arranging the 2 races on the first Sunday of the month (already designated as the day we hope that the less experienced will turn up) as follows:
We designate the Grafham sailors as Pro/Am teams in a similar manner to the Nationals. For the first lap (or two laps) of the race the Pro must not cross through the Gate in front of her/his Am partner.
This means that it is of major importance to the Pro to get the Am partner to go as fast as possible during these laps.
What do you think ? This idea probably needs working on, but may be what we need to encourage more improvers to turn up if they are guaranteed some committed coaching.

Chris

Hi Chris,
Yes - sounds like a good idea. Let's discuss with some of the other guys Sunday.
Cheers

PS. You missed a good sail at Beaver on Saturday. The locals were(uncharacteristically)off form and gave the travellers a chance!

Sounds like a good idea, even if there are no 'beginners' there we could try the format.

I'll volunteer to be an 'Am' if it means neither of you can overtake me on ANY Sunday!!!!!
