Re: Thorpe Bay TT 6th-7th July

This is the state of play at the end of the first day of the TBYC open meeting. There are 36 entries with representation from a broad range of clubs. The current leader is Paul Gratttage 5pts, Stuart Snell 11pts, Howard Hawkes 15 pts and Kevin Dutch 16pts. The full results after the first day can be...

Re: Thorpe Bay TT 6th-7th July

Welcome to sunny Sarfend! All our previous Sprint open meetings have been blessed with glorious sunshine. This year, with a nice sea breeze expected, will be no exception. So you can leave your raincoats behind and bring your sandals and sunglasses instead. I'll be around to help Paul Morgan from Fr...

Re: Sprint 15 for sale

I wish sellers would mention the approximate location of their boats. The moment a Sprint comes available in my area, I'm lobbying prospective buyers.

Does anybody know the whereabouts of 1344, 1372, 1451 and 1461?

Andrew.

1982? This begs the question, "What are the plans of Stuart Snell?" Does anybody know?

Re: PN

This is something I'm inclined to leave to the experts. But from a layman's point of view, the RYA seems to have overlooked something. Namely, that the amount sail area should not be the sole criteria. Calculating a PY of 860 would suggest that Sport mode is enhanced in other ways. For example, is t...

Re: PN

For club racing at Thorpe Bay, we all sail una-rig. We race with this format for two reasons. 1) It promotes one-design racing. 2) It is much easier to attract newcomers to the sport, without their first having to learn how to trapeze. The two-sail option is used where someone takes a crew. Same PY ...

Re: Amazing value

I've just seen 2002. It's in lovely condition.

Clive will be selling his old Sprint. Like all those who upgrade to a newer Sprint, he is lining up prospective buyers to build the fleet.

Perhaps we should make a rule. Whoever wins the event, writes the report!

Once I've finished reading my magazine, I place it on the pile of magazines in the clubhouse. I try to keep it at the top of the pile.

This can't be done with online editions.

Re: sport mode

The cost! I reckon that adding a jib kit would cost £600+. Besides the sail itself, there are the furlers, blocks, wires and sundry bits. No doubt someone will give us a more accurate figure than my guesstimate. Again, I think the Sprint should be marketed as a basic una-rig boat, but with optional ...

Re: Adjustable tiller extension

I acknowledge that I am a bit of a stick-in-the-mud on these issues. But I'm against any move that puts up the cost of a new boat. They are expensive enough as it is. Another £20 on the price helps bump up the price even more. How about graphics? Should they be added? That would be another £60, than...

Hello Neil,

I know Howard Hawkes will be going to Grafham. Also Gary Burrows, among others.

If you instruct Kyle to give the sample to either of these, it will get you.

Andrew.
