Thanks for the advice and comments Steve and Charles. I'm going down to the club this morning, armed with straight edges, and measuring tapes.
I am also going to try another set of rudders, (borrowed from a similar age boat) , to see what the differences are. Watch this space.

cheers

Rudder Alignment

"Freddie" sustained a mighty thwack on the rear quarter and the port rudder last Sunday- the D 18 that hit me (he was on Port) demolished 18 inches of its port bow. My damage initially appeared to be "just" the loss of the nylon sliders in the tiller arm, and their attached stain...

Southern Area Championships Day 1 results

We got in the planned three races, in F3/F4 winds , but some overcast skies. Stewart Pegum won race 1, from Erling , who was caught napping at the start, and chased the pack like mad to make up over a minute's deficit. Erling had the bit between his teeth for the first race after the lunch break, wh...

Southern Area Championship at ODC 20-21st June

We have been beavering away in preparation for our TT event this coming w/end- including doing some on water training on Saturday- shame that the tide was stronger than the wind- anway those that took part enjoyed it. I have just seen the first forecast for the w/end. 14 mph winds and sunshine- what...

Next TT event 20 21st June at ODC

After all the excitement of the Sports Nationals, why not come down and sample the relaxed, laid back way of life at the Open Dinghy Club, who are hosting the next TT event. What we lack in such modern things as showers and a bar, we more than make up for by being friendly, and generally easygoing. ...

Spark 1052 stolen from CYC

I am posting this note on behalf of Association member Sue Worthington, who is the owner of this missing Spark. It, together with a D18 4080 "Aristocat", has recently either been stolen or otherwise removed from the Catamaran Yacht Club boat park at Bartons Point. The Spark 15 was a red an...

Sorry for being a bit late on responding, as I'm down "south" seeking some winter sun. As the topic of renewal has come up can I summarise the position. If you pay by cheque its 15 pounds per year ( valid for 12 months from cheque payment) If you pay by Standing Order its a bargain 10 poun...

missing boot from ODC TT event!!!!!

I know that this sounds daft, but have any of the intrepid Travellers who came to our TT event on 23/24th June inadvertantly walked off with my left sailing boot! None of the ODC crowd claim to have purloined it, so I'm assuming its gone a travelling. Its a "Tribord", black and grey boot, ...

Guys, if you are planning to arrive at ODC on Friday evening, can you please give me a call in advance, so that we can make sure that the boat compound and the field gates are both kept open for you.

cheers

A few more details on the event to try and tempt the Grafham guys down to the sunny south. A free BBQ for Saturday evening is included in your 10 pounds entry fee- (but you will need to bring your own booze, as we are not allowed to sell alcohol on the club premises) Al fresco camping is available i...

Sprint 15 Traveller / Southern Championship 23/24 th June

Hey, its almost summer time, so why dont you think about coming down to the Open Dinghy Club over the w/end of 23/24th June for the Sprint 15 Southern Championships. I know its only 1 week after the Sport Nationals on the IOW, but I'm sure you can all find suitable excuses to placate wives/partners....
