Re: Rudders filling with water

Hi Thought I'd revive this thread to ask what a dry rudder blade should weigh. I've got a stash of blades (don't ask!) from Sparks, Dart 15s & Dart 18s in various states of repair & water content and wondered what I should be aiming for. Having just been out in the garage with the bathroom s...

Re: Training Day

I did go out to play, but unfortunately nobody wanted to play with me :( It was forecast to be gusting 9 & at points it was doing most of that! Malcolm has seen these but I thought you might be amused Robert! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apQYyXZGQzI&sns=em http://paulhargreavesphotography....

Re: 2015 RYA PNs

Hi Bob, does Grafham use the published PY or amend for the water?

I'm sailing off 916 at Yorkshire Dales SC as they reduce PYs for the size of the pond (300 acres).

Re: Cameras & GPS

Hi Gordon, I'm afraid my Principal role at HxSC blows out at least a weekend a month and other commitments mean I'm not likely to get to an event this year I'm afraid. On the up side I'm almost finished renovating 1075 as a training and hire boat at HxSC and we have 10 boats here, though we are loos...

Re: Windy?

Wow, the attempts of the helicopter pilot & winchman were brave, pretty scary for whoever they were trying to get to too!

Cameras & GPS

Hi All I've been sailing in the Yorkshire Dales SC Icicle series and having good fun with 20+ boats on the line, vying mostly with Musto Skiffs & Vortex's. They have a facebook page on which there has been a very interesting rules debate on rights rounding the windward buoy, of course I had to p...

Is it too early to start Fitting Out?

Hi everyone, and a Happy New Year. I know it's been a long time since I was here last! 'Sticks & Stones' has been laid fairly quietly at Halifax in 2014 and sadly is not likely to be doing too much travelling in 2015. However, as I didn't have much to do on the afternoon of New Year's Eve I thou...

Re: Nick Dewhirst

I've only just found out about Nick's sad passing. I was at Bridlington and one of the 18 sailors told me, I couldn't believe it. I first met Nick at Stewartby Teach In about 10 years ago and he has always made a point of passing on golden nuggets of information whenever I've met him since, whether ...

Donate a Wreck!

Hi everyone I have just got round to reading my Spring RYA Members Mag & spotted a fantastic article quoting the UKCRA chairman, one Nick Dewhirst. Basically UKCRA (Nick) are trying to find more unloved D16s to renovate & add to their two 3-boat fleets which are passed between clubs to get k...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

That pretty well sums it up I think.

Have a good one, one and all.

All the best for the 2013 season and beyond.

Re: Instow 2012

Just did penance for not tallying on at Instow & paid my dues to the RNLI ! It was painful, but a little insurance, even for a Yorkshireman, is worth it!!!

Re: Round Sheppey

Looking forward to seeing you there in 2013 Mark, you could take both boats, Sprint for F3 & above & the A-class for pure pose-ability !!

Will have to try to work out how to get down to Grafham for a play once you've taken delivery!!

Re: Instow 2012

I second everyone's thanks to NDYC for the great sailing. There were challenging courses, with testing & sneaky tides plus winds from testingly flukie to beautiful flat out on the wire. Race five was the most enjoyable & technically challenging race I've ever sailed, with 5 of us changing pl...

Instow Apres Sail

As the racing is fairly early in the day I'm taking my bike & wondered if anyone else fancies a gentle ride out, perhaps to Appledore (5 miles) & if it's a nice day to the Beach at Sandymere?

Jib for Sale

Hi

I've got a Jib for sale, it's probably about 10 years old, but I'd say it's only been used gently for half a season at most.

I'll have it with me at Instow if anyone is interested there.

Looking for £100 ONO
