Club Course Preferences

Hi All My club runs Sunday racing in the format:- AM 2 races back to back Fast fleet windward leeward Slow fleet round the cans PM 2 races back to back Both fleets windward leeward Sprints are in the slow fleet and there are generally more non-asymetrics racing than asymmetrics. I understand asymmet...

What's in a name?

Sprint 15 and Dart 18 designs certainly have a closer blood line than that of the Dart 16. I don't have a strong view either way about the name. I can see the synergy argument and sailor crossover obviously does happen a little. I have to disagree with the view that the 'Dart name and logo is overal...

Calling all Swedish sailors!

Following on from the 'Jolly good magazine ' comments, I enjoyed the article by Mikael. It's great to hear of boats in far off places and from the pictures she looks to have been carefully stored for quite a few years. Do you have a hook at the top of your mast to clip the halyard ring onto? The pic...

Nationals

Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of the event. Great to squeeze it in during this difficult period. I bumped into GWYC Commodore and thanked him for their excellent organisation, I even let him off for the mediocre weather organising!

Re: Grafham Nationals - Competitor Info

Thanks Jenny, that's certainly how I perceive things. I'll be looking out for GWSC updates. Mark, I'll bring my bike with me, having missed the Instow cycle-pub trip I'm in need of some social exercise! Looks like enough wind to sail but not as exciting as we'd like. Fingers crossed to see you all s...

Re: Grafham Nationals - Competitor Info

Do we think we are all good to go for the weekend?

My reading of the current COVID-19 rules says yes, as long as we keep to groups of 6 or less outside and adhere to the RYAs recommendations, which GWSC will be all over.

Re: Sport Nationals - 25th to 27th September, NDYC

I was one of the last 4 and I think the last campervan.

Fingers crossed I can make this one!

Hoping for the F4-6 we had on Sunday when I walked all over the half-boats!

Trailer support arm

Hi all

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement trailer support arm from? One of mine decided to exit stage left, fortunately not with my boat on it.

I've googled all sorts of trailer manufacturers & can't find any that seem to make the simple cat trailers we use.

Thanks

Re: Erling

A sad day for the fleet and his friends. So often there to greet you at an event with a smile and a witty jibe, even though he had started earlier & travelled further than you. How did he manage to get his boat off the roof & be rigged before any one else? The White Rigging Wizard of Shankli...

Re: Instow Sport Nationals - Sept 15th/16th

Excellent event chaps.

Well run event, with the usual tide & wind challenges of the estuaries.

Great company & beer & cycle.

Must do it again, perhaps sooner than the 9 year gap from last time I did it?

Do I get the long distance trophy? 301 miles each way.

The NOR is available, but no sign of the SIs? Are the SIs available?

Re: Instow Sport Nationals - Sept 15th/16th

Hi Simon

My advice is:-

Remember to bring extra little flappy bit, extra wires, extra big and extremely uncomfortable nappy contraption. Advice often improves in jovial content and in direct proportion to beer drunk!

Re: Two piece masts problem solving

Resurrecting this rather old thread as I have water in my bottom mast section. Not a problem, I thought, just drill a hole slightly above the mast foot & hey presto. Not so easy, apparently. No water came out but it is still sloshing about inside. Is there a plug towards the bottom of the lower ...
