It's in our rules under "Alternative Parts" that you can use a "Jib Halyard Line" between 2.5 and 3.5mm with length between 5000 and 6000mm. The jib halyard wire, however more closely matches the forestay length at 3355mm which makes more sense. Nobody will be measuring it if you...

Start with the boat flat, facing into the wind. Make sure the halyard is on the starboard side of the hook when you pull up. I presume you have tied your main sheet and traveller together? Double fisherman's knot is good. You can loop the main sheet and traveller round the mast.
