Standard sail vs. square top sail

Hello, I got my second-hand #1571 with 2 sails, the first one is the standard sail, the other one is a square top sail made by Forward and almost new. Apart from a small problem with hooking the Forward sail I would love to hear your comments about the differences, advantages/drawbacks of those sail...

Re: Clips' play question

Thanks Mark, Bob and Liam for the replies with tips. I have packed the gaps between hulls and clips with aluminum plates after having checked that the hulls were parallel. Buying a new tramp is not in the cards right now as I have to test the boat in the water first. Liam, I read your account about ...

Clips' play question

Hello all, I bought my Sprint last fall and I am preparing it for the season. My trampoline has been locally fabricated with the warp parallel to the hulls thus tightening the trampoline doesn't pull the hulls together. I have about a 6 to 7mm play between the hulls and the rear beam clips. I loosen...

1571

I bought this boat in Roscoff in October 2021. It was imported by France Catamaran in November 1990. The receipts I got with the boat show that I am at least the 4th owner.

Re: Newcomer from Brittany

Thanks Edchris for taking interest. I was going to go see the Dart on Monday but because of the forecast gale I went and bought it 2 days ago in sunshine. The boat has been lightly used as can testify the original mainsail still in very good shape. The price seemed OK, especially including a very go...

Re: Newcomer from Brittany

Thanks a lot Liam for the positive remarks. After having read the article by George Stephen I am a bit worried about the trampoline built from a square of fabric instead of 2 triangles. The seller said he would ask the sailmaker to sew the foot straps on and install the eyelets for them and the trap...

Re: Newcomer from Brittany

Hi all,

do you mind having a look at my prospective acquisition: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kNncDod5Hbhjdb9L7 and give me a few pointers? I am going to look at the boat on Monday.
Thanks, Thierry

Re: Newcomer from Brittany

Thanks for the good words of encouragement. I am a bit suspicious about the trampoline as it is new but made by a local sailmaker. Will see.

Newcomer from Brittany

Hello, I live in Loctudy, Brittany. I might acquire a Sprint 15 soon. Next Monday I am going to check over #1571, a boat made in November 1990 according to the ad. Could someone tell me if it is possible to know where this boat was built and if there is any inherent weakness I need to be aware of wh...
