Hi Jaycb You must assume a boat needs a sail! If it is a new sail you want then I am sure the £100 difference would be more than offset in resale value by having the class-legal one. However, surely your answer is to look for a secondhand class-legal sail on this web site (the keen racers change the...

Well said Bob, Andrew and Erling. Presumably Cat Bitz battens are also non class-legal? One point Jacyb is missing is that anyone who buys out of class rig for a one design boat like the Sprint 15 effectively reduces the resale value of their boat significantly and certainly more than the £100 diffe...

Marconi TT

Hi Bob I would do most things for a pint! However, unfortunately cannot make Marconi even if Andrew was buying. I usually do the annual Nore Race in the Thames, which is Saturday. That is missable, but it is my youngest grand-daughter's first birthday party on the Sunday, and am also off v early Mon...

Hi Andrew No I am not implying that! In fact it seems far from the case as I understand that you were first Sprint 15 across the line yet again in yesterday's club race. Well done! I would have liked to have been there, as I need the tuition, but suspect I have cracked a couple of ribs skiing  ...

Wind

Hi Steve, Andrew, Martin The answer lies on our own club website Andrew! However, it can be used by all and in my experience the most accurate is the link to the Met Office site reached as follows:-. Log on to www.tbyc.org and go to Useful Information. Click Pressure Charts, then UK forecast on rhs....

Understood Bob. Hadn't heard of the 15 boat rule. Makes sense.

If we see a boat with overdeep skegs we'll compare it with the rest of our fleet!

Thanks. Best wishes and hope to see you at TBYC again before too long.

measurement

Andrew - You are right that there is little scope for manipulation with Sprints. However, a lot of the older boats are now having professional and amateur repairs to the hulls, and in particular the skegs. Whilst there would be no suggestion of deliberate breach in our Class - perish the thought! - ...

Steve

I recall from my days with a Sting that it was PY860. It cannot have been PY888 as that is slower than the Sprint in Sport format at PY883, and I can assure you it was a much faster boat!

Sting 1235

I wonder if my Sting is still sailing? I bought Sting 1235 from Laser at the 1991 Boat Show and sold her to Peter Bracher (at Grafham?) in April 2000. She was a great boat but I got nervous cruising the Thames in a boat I couldn't easily right single handed, and went back to a standard Sprint 15. In...

1755

Is 1755, a Cocktail, still out there? I bought her from the Laser Centre secondhand in March 2000 and she had come down from Peterhead where she had been sailed in the North Sea and inland lochs by Norval Strachan. I remember removing some of the Cocktail "fruit" from the logo! I sailed he...

Great to see she is still going. 1078 was my first Dart, shared with Brian Whistler of TBYC and bought in 1989, I think, either from Seasalter or Herne Bay. Is she still called Wild Thyme? We put a furling jib on her and sailed her for two seasons after which I bought a Sting 1235 and Brian returned...

I am afraid that Andrew's mail about me and 1758, said with such authority, is completely wrong! The boat I owned was 1755. I'll post database notes about my past boats as I would be interested to know where they are now. However, through an amazing coincidence 1078 which is the post below this, and...
