Re: Unused Rudders,Tiller Connector, Halyard Rings

Thanks for explaining, Liam. Service ranks have always confused me. Now that we have WO2s being highter than WO1s, you'd think an army 2nd Lieutenant is, similarly, higher than a 1st lieutenant. Apparently not. An L1 is higher than an L2: the opposite of WO1 and WO2. Then we have the ranks of genera...

Re: Great News! Plymouth TT Entry now £30 all in

I notice S/N 1594 was entered. Isn't that George Steven's boat "Eau Pair"?

Any news of George? Retired from the class? etc.

Hello Duncan,

I note the number of your posts has elevated you to Warrant Officer class two.

I'm sorry to use your thread again. But which is the higher naval rank? Is it Warrant Officer One, or is it Warrant Officer Two? I've always wanted to know. You can see my education lacks in other spheres.

The Boat Show

What's happened to the Boat Show? They've gone and cancelled it. No boat show to bring in the new year. For as long as I can remember, each new year began with the boat show. It was held at Earls Court in West London before it moved up-market to Limehouse in East London. In my circles, it was known ...

Dear Keith,

Thanks for explaining. I'm not an avid reader of German mythology. But it is always good to learn a little about it.

Now them rudders. They were supplied by Laser Centre which means they are pre "Out of Africa". So I'd imagine they're pretty good!

Very true Bob. Especially when you consider seller incurred e-bay's 10% fee viz £56. And then another deduction for paypal. The Association doesn't charge a sausage.

Re: On Board Compass

Good question, Mr C. Fortunately it's not of a technical nature. So I can answer. I ain't got one. Having sold my Sprint, I realise there is a vacuum in my life. A sun tan in the garden is not the same as the one you get on the water. In fact, you can get one on the water even when the sun isn't shi...

Re: On Board Compass

One of the joys of sailing 'open' boats, such as ours, is that we can get away from everyday gadgetry. I know people whom, the moment you speak to them.............. out pops a mobile phone. They couldn't even stroll along the banks of the Serpentine without resorting to GPS. We've become ridiculous...

Great video.

Who was the bloke running his boat along the beach? He must hold the land speed record for Sprints.

Re: Congratulations Yvonne

Great mag, Yvonne. Well done. And well done, George, for finding a worthy successor. I was sorry to read of the demise of the Open Dinghy Club. 200+ years ago, people lived far away from the coast to avoid the press gangs. These days, developers will pay extortionate prices for land with a sea view....
