Re: Calling Thorpe Bay !!!!!!!

Since the last nationals in 2008, there have been some improvements. TBYC has successfully negotiated with the local council for permanent use of a portion of the adjacent greensward. This has been hedged-in to give us exclusive use. Nevertheless at big events, we require an enlarged area. And this ...

Re: Other Winter Sailing options

The TBYC Frozen Sheets Race has been put back. The new date is Sunday 5th January 2014, start 13.00hrs. This is to overcome a clash of local events. The Leigh SC's annual Brass Monkey Race is on the day before (the 4th) as planned.

Re: Other Winter Sailing options

After packing-up after the Grafham event, keep your boat on the trailer and drive to Thorpe Bay on the following Saturday (4th January 2014) for our annual Frozen Sheets race. It's an "open" all-in handicap where all classes are welcome. I understand the entry fee is £5 payable at the even...

Re: Big wheeled trollies: technical assistance

Hi Steve, Thanks for your words. It's the metal valve insert (that you describe) that comes out. The rubber nozzle that pokes out remains intact. Curiously, I can press it back into the rubber and re-inflate. The tyre stays inflated...... until the valve is knocked, when it falls out again. I'm a bi...

Big wheeled trollies: technical assistance

I need some technical help. I have a big wheeled trolley, which I bought from Windsport some years ago. The valve in one of the tyres simply pops out of the tyre, causing it to quickly deflate. It's a bit like a bicycle valve dropping out of the wheel rim. It's never happened, so I'm surprised it ha...

Re: The Inland Championships at Grafham 26/27 October

Hi Bob, With reference to your posting on the boat register index, I will have a push for TBYC Sprints to attend Grafham. By chance, there is no club racing on 26/27 October. It's also three weeks away, so time is on our side. The new format for Saturday evening is sure to keep the class together. B...

Re: 1818

1818 saw the institution of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George. So "Saint" George has another connection with 1818.

Re: Nick Dewhurst

I think it would be fair to say that we are all heartbroken. Our sense of loss is such that we cannot imagine life without him. Nick was somebody whom we all looked up to and admired. He especially spent time with newcomers who may have been daunted with catamarans. His annual training weekends are ...
