Re: Erling

Erling went out of his way to make me welcome as a newcomer to the association and I can remember some great jousts with him on the water where, as on land, he was always the perfect gentleman. I had wondered why he hadn't been to Grafham for a while, such a sad loss of a lovely human being who coul...

2016 For Sale

I've sadly concluded that I still don't have the time to get back into regular Sp15 racing. 2016 has been sailed only 5 times since I bought her from Stuart Snell last year so it's time to let her go to a more worthy racer. Liam has the details and she should be on the For Sale site very soon. Good ...

Re: Rutland TT on Sunday 4th December

Yes, a big thanks to Steve for organising and thanks to his Speedy Sports company for providing the prizes. Added to that he even showed that his real 1733 boat could keep up with the nice new ones. Apart from a starting hooter that was hardly louder than a gnat's f?rt, Rutland put on a great day fo...

Re: Grafham TT 20 March

Will Richard Philpott talk with an American accent? Mighty pleased to say folk that I'll be there on 1942 (Chris Black's old boat) competing for the rustiest helm trophy. Not even sure that the bludgeon method of attacking the "booee's" recently imparted to me by that fair and decent cand...

1988

Very, very reluctantly sold to Robin Boardman but she has been sitting neglected for too long and my hopes of getting back in the saddle were dreams. Hopefully I'll be back when work allows me to spend more time in Blighty.

Re: 1988 For Sale...and Goodbye for now

Yes, the pull is pretty hard to resist and I will probably re-appear like you when time allows. Mind you, watching the Darts drifting in light airs on Wednesday while I guest crewed a Flying 15 which glided by was quite satisfying.....luckily you were not there to laugh at my erratic spinnaker :oops...

1988 For Sale...and Goodbye for now

I have hung onto this lovely boat thinking that I would find time to get back on the water but a handful of outings in the last few years and likelihood that my old wreck of a yacht will finally be ready to float this year means that it's just going to gather more dust. A big thank you to everyone w...

Re: Sunday 24 March - Grafham Icicle

I'll be dusting off 1988 on Sunday and look forward to a good turn out. If he's not sold my sister ship 1989 by then, hopefully we'll see a final (well for now as he'll no doubt be back) star turn from Mark (it's OK you won't miss any elite class racing as the gusts are looking a tad too strong for ...

Re: Carsington Winter TT

.....and a BIG thank you to the Carsington team for making us so welcome and a very smoothly run event. My first foray up North and they are not as bad up there as I've heard, mind you the practice of tossing sweets at sailors is probably best kept quiet...... Commander Aldridge, I failed as ...

Re: New Boats

Sounds as if you missing Christmas dinner is a worthy sacrifice for the class......come on Commander do it for your sailing mates........or perhaps you're still paying penance for having your heart stolen by that fancy A Class machine.
See you Saturday where the lightweights will rule.....

Thanks Stewartby

A big thank you to the Stewartby team for a well organised TT, superb sailing, excellent company and that pork and leek pie with roasties and veg was the best £4 meal in the land (and gave me some much needed weight in the afternoon).

Re: Pwllheli Nationals 2011

George, it was a relief to know that you were fine.....mind you there were probably a few more of us who were in need of a nurse on the beach  ....perhaps the committee should consider this for future events! A huge well done to Erling for organising such an excellent event and getting the num...
