Filey is on a pretty bay in North Yorkshire. The Association has used it as a location for the Northern Championship and Traveler Series. It has an impressive cliff with a campsite on top which offers the spectators a superb birds-eye view of the racing.

The club is very friendly and has a group of about 8 Sprint 15s. The racing takes place in a scenic bay surrounded by steep clay cliffs, which are steadily being eroded. There are excellent views of the race area from the top of these cliffs. The club is housed in a recently built clubhouse at the foot of the cliff.

Directions

The Club is located on the North side of Filey town. If approaching from the South, do not enter the town from the south side but keep going and enter the town from the Scarborough (North) side. Follow signs for The Country Park. If you are not camping on the country park, you will have to pay and display (£5.00/day in 2007).  There is a machine at the entrance to the park and one opposite the Shop/Cafe. Once in the country park, head towards the Campsite and Shop/Cafe. Access to the sailing club is down a fairly steep access road opposite the shop. You can drive down but beware it is steep and only wide enough for one-way traffic, so someone may need to back up. Alternatively take the boat off the trailer at the top and wheel the boat down on the trolley, with the mast still down (due to overhanging trees). A good plan is to park at the top and walk the road to access the situation. The sand in the bay is firm enough to drive on, so tides permitting, offloading and rigging is usually carried out on the beach.

Accomodation

There is an excellent camping and caravanning (separated) site on the top of the cliffs where most of the sailors tend to stay. They do get heavily booked as it is a busy weekend so it is wise to book early. Details are as follows:
