Beaver S.C. Sprint 15 fleet has declined from its peak 10 years ago when it dominated the National Championships. Now there are 12 boats at the club and an average turnout on Sundays of 3 or 4 boats generally sailing unirig.

Legendary sailors like John and Terry Postlewaite, Barrie Hoggard, Matt Smith, Steve and Richard Handby are still at the club and willing to give advice to the fleet but now sail other boats whilst they accumulate sufficient maturity to return to the Sprint 15.

The Sprint 15s sail within the Handicap Fleet with monohulls and always take a good share of the silverware. The water is an 80 acre balancing reservoir for the Aire & Calder Canal and sits about a metre above the surrounding countryside which ensures good clean winds and even a sea breeze on a hot summers day. The water level never changes more than 75mm which make launching and recovery easy. Beaver S.C. is a small friendly club that welcomes new members and offers an good standard of racing. In 2013 the club funded a large new clubhouse. There are 3 or 4 races on a Sunday and 1 on Wednesday evening but many members sail during the week particularly during school holidays.

Beaver S.C. is situated approximately 16 miles North-East of Doncaster .

Directions from the South

Take the M1 or A1 North to Doncaster, then pick up the M18 East, and exit at Junction 6 (Thorne). Take the A614 North towards Goole for about 4 miles until crossing two bridges over the river and  the canal. Turn immediately left (don't go over the M62), and Beaver S.C. is approximately half a mile further on.
