Inland Championship and Grafham Cat Open Grafham Water Sailing Club TT : Summer Series
Saturday 20th - Sunday 21st October 2007

Unfortunately due to a total absence of wind the season finale at Grafham was Not Sailed, indeed the whole Cat Open event was also not sailed. This was unfortunate to those competitors needing to sail Grafham to qualify for the series, these included Erling Holmberg, Frank Sandells, Ray Gall and Martin Searle, who just needed to race to claim the Sport mode TT trophy. The Sprint 15 Fleet was by far the largest fleet at the Cat Open with 30 entries.

We were able to have an impromptu teach in with Brian Phipps about tuning and general maintenance of the boat. Martin Searle's boat was used as an example and Brian was able to point out all the little problems with it, ie beam retaining clips not flush to the hull, too stiff top batten and a loose bolt on my rudder amongst others. So lots of talking and lounging around in the sun was had by all.

On Saturday evening before the Rugby World Cup Final there was a UKCRA meeting lead by class chairman Nick Dewhirst too discuss the various proposals the RYA have made to ISAF about Cats and the Olympics and in the Youth Classes.

For those waking up on Sunday in tents the welcome sight of the sun was a relief and helped melt the ice on boats and tents. BRRR!. By lunch the racing was abandoned for the day and most people left after packing up. Prizes were awarded for the series (see the series report). Grafham kindly gave those who stayed until 12.00, a form to fill in to claim a refund of the entry fee.
